What we know about you
A birth date and an hour is intimate information. This page says exactly what we hold, why we hold it, and how to make us let go of it.
Last updated: August 24, 2026
The Lunar Almanac operates lunaryearreading.com from Freeport, New York, United States. We are the controller of the information described below. Questions about any of it go to [email protected], where a person reads them.
What we collect
What you type into the quiz
- Your first name, used on the cover of the reading and at the top of our emails.
- Your email address, so we can send the reading and the delivery link.
- Your birth date, which decides your animal and element and settles the lunar boundary for January and February birthdays.
- Your birth hour, or "I'm not sure" if you do not know it. The hour sets the inner animal.
- Your quiz answers, the seven questions about what you are weighing in the coming year. These shape which chapters go deep and which stay short, and some answers are quoted back in the reading.
- Partner birth details, only if you bought the partner reading and only when you enter them on your delivery page.
While you are taking the quiz, those answers sit in your own browser's session
storage under the key fg27_state and go nowhere. They reach us at the
moment you submit your email address. Close the tab before that and nothing was ever
sent.
What arrives on its own
Our host records ordinary web server information: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and the site or ad that referred you. If you arrived from one of our ads, the link carries a short campaign tag so we can tell which ad brought you. We use this to keep the site running and to know which advertising is worth paying for.
What we never see
Card numbers. ClickBank is the retailer and merchant of record for everything sold here, and the entire payment happens on ClickBank's systems. We do not receive, store, or have any way to look up your card number, expiry date, or security code. What ClickBank passes back to us is the fact of a completed order, the product bought, the order number, and the buyer's name and email.
Why we hold it
A birth date is the entire input. Without one there is nothing to cast and nothing to send, which is the first and largest reason we ask for anything at all. The rest follows from running the thing: your delivery page has to keep working for a year, your email has to reach a real list, and when you write to us we have to be able to find what you bought. We keep order records because tax and accounting rules say to, and we watch the payment side for fraud.
Where the law requires a legal basis, ours is the performance of our contract with you for purchases and delivery, your consent for marketing email, and our legitimate interest in running a functioning, secure business for the rest.
Email, and how to stop it
When you give us your email address in the quiz, you are asking for your free sign reading, and you are also joining our list. We send a short sequence about the Fire Goat year and occasional notes about what the studio is publishing. Buyers get delivery and follow-up emails about the reading they own.
Every one of those emails carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click ends the marketing, permanently, and we do not quietly add you back later. Transactional messages about something you bought, like a delivery link or a refund confirmation, are separate and still reach you. If the unsubscribe link ever fails, email us and we will do it manually the same day.
We do not sell your data
We have never sold or rented personal information and we will not. Nobody buys our list. Your birth details are not a product here. What you told us goes to no advertiser, no data broker, and no other astrology site. Affiliates who send us traffic are paid on commission totals. They never see a customer record.
Who processes it for us
We are a small studio and we use a few outside services to operate. Each of them handles your information under its own agreement with us, only for the work we hire them to do.
- ClickBank (Click Sales, Inc.) takes payment, holds the order record, and issues refunds.
- Klaviyo stores our email list and sends our email.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, the quiz, and the delivery pages.
- Advertising and measurement platforms, where we run ads, receive a signal that a purchase happened so the ad account can measure results. That signal is limited to conversion data.
These providers operate in the United States, so information you send us is processed there. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights in a dispute. If the studio is ever sold, buyer records would transfer with it, and this policy would continue to govern them.
Cookies and measurement
The site uses a small amount of browser storage to keep your quiz answers in place while you move through the steps, and to remember the campaign tag from the link you arrived on. ClickBank sets its own cookies to attribute the sale to the right affiliate, which is how its network pays people. Where we advertise, the platform's measurement tag may set a cookie to count conversions.
Your browser settings control all of this. Blocking cookies will not stop you from taking the quiz or buying a reading, and it may mean you have to re-enter details if you leave and come back. We do not run advertising cookies that follow you around unrelated sites for other companies.
How long we keep it
Buyer records and readings are kept for as long as your delivery page is meant to work, at minimum twelve months, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require the order record. Quiz entries from people who never bought are kept while they are on our email list. Unsubscribe and we keep only the minimum needed to honor the unsubscribe, which is your email address on a suppression list. That record exists so we cannot accidentally email you again.
Deleting your data
Email [email protected] with "Delete my data" in the subject line, sent from the address you gave us. We do not ask why. We remove your name, email, birth details, and quiz answers from our systems and confirm in writing, within thirty days and usually within a few.
Two honest limits. Deleting your details also deletes your delivery page, so download your PDF first if you want to keep it. And ClickBank keeps its own transaction record of the purchase for its tax and fraud obligations, which we cannot reach or erase. That record lives with ClickBank under ClickBank's policy.
You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct something, or ask us to stop using it for marketing. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the CCPA in California give you those rights formally. We honor them for everyone who asks, wherever you are, and we do not charge for it or treat you differently afterward.
Security
Traffic to this site is encrypted. Access to buyer records is limited to the people who need it to answer your email and produce your reading. No system is beyond breaking, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and tell the authorities the law says to tell.
Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete the record.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything material gets gets its own plain note here. Nothing gets slipped in.
